According to the CEO of Reliance Entertainment, Shibasish Sarkar, Sooryavanshi, and 83 might release digitally if the theatres won’t open soon. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer “Sooryavanshi” was originally planned to release in March but got postponed to Diwali this year because of the pandemic. Similarly, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer 83 which is based on the life of Kapil Dev and the 1983 World cup was scheduled to release in April but got postponed to Christmas this year.
However, now there is a possibility that these films might also get an OTT release because there is no surety when the theatres will open. And since, the CEO, Shibasish Sarkar is the co-producer of both the films, hence he might convince the directors to release their films digitally.
Their first priority is still a theatrical release for Sooryavanshi and 83. However, they will only advance after they get a confirmation of the reopening of theatres in all the states.
