Famous filmmaker of Bollywood, Shekhar Kapur has been appointed as the new President of the best film school in India. He will take over from BP Singh as the new Chairman and President of the Film and Television Institute Of India (FTII). According to reports, Shekhar Kapur’s tenure will be till March 3, 2023.
ANI confirmed this news by posting a tweet. It reads, “Director Shekhar Kapur has been appointed as the new President of FTII Society and Chairman of FTII Governing Council.” FTII is considered as the top film school in India which has notable alumni like Naseeruddin Shah, Jaya Bachchan, Om Puri, and many more.
The 74-year-old filmmaker already received Padma Shri in 2000 and is renowned for directing movies like Mr. India, Masoom, Bandit Queen, and many more.
Veteran names such as Vinod Khanna, Mahesh Bhatt already hold some prestigious positions at FTII. And now the name of Shekhar Kapur will join this list as well.
