Gurdas Maan’s lawyer recently applied for an anticipatory bail plea. However, it has been rejected by the Sessions and District court of Jalandhar.
The famous Punjabi actor-singer Gurdas Maan was booked under section 295-A of the IPC. He made some offensive comments at a religious fair in Dera Baba Murad Shah in Nakodar and ended up hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
Gurdas Maan identified the dera ruler, Ladi Shah as a descendant of the third Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Amardas Ji. As a result, the Sikh community filed a complaint against him for hurting their religious sentiments.
The lawyer of Gurdas Maan said he has apologized for his words and deserves to get bail. However, the District and Sessions court in Jalandhar rejected his bail plea. If Gurdas Maan gets out, then it might provoke the anger of the community even more and that will spoil the environment of Punjab. Hence, the court didn’t accept his anticipatory bail plea this time.
