Earlier this week, Patiala Police arrested famous Punjabi lyricist and singer Shree Brar. He was arrested for glorifying lawlessness in his recent song titled “Jaan.” The Police also revealed they arrested the singer because his song has provocative lyrics which is encouraging violence and antisocial acts.
The SSP of Patiala Police said, “The lyrics of the song very much encourage the youth to commit crimes and anti-social acts.” He also revealed that the FIR was registered under IPC sections 500, 501, 502, 505, 115, 116, and 120-B.
After this arrest, the Youth Akali Dal claimed that the government of Punjab arrested and tortured the singer on the directions of Amit Shah, Indian Union Home Minister. They even claimed that the government wants to punish the singer for releasing the Kisan Anthem.
Another news was also going viral on social media that the Police arrested the father of Shree Brar as well. However, later the SSP, Vikram Duggal made it clear it is a false rumor. And he will take strict action against those who are spreading it on social media platforms. According to him, Punjab police neither arrested his father nor summoned Jas Bajwa.
