Vicky Kaushal’s recently released historical drama Sardar Udham and Vidya Balan’s Sherni were shortlisted as India’s official for the 94th Academy Awards in the category of the Best International Feature Film. Sardar Udham is receiving a great response from the fans. It is based on the real-life story of a freedom fighter named Sardar Udham. He assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in order to take revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
On the other hand, Vidya Balan’s Sherni also received positive reviews following its release earlier this year. The film even holds 100% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Now both Sherni and Sardar Udham will represent India at the 2022 Oscars. It has been quite a while since any Indian film got nominated at the Oscars. This time, the fans of India have really high hopes that one of these two films will bring the trophy to India.
The 94th Academy Awards is all set to take place on March 27, 2022. This will be the first time since 2018 that the event will take place in March. Its date has been shifted in order to avoid conflict with the Winter Olympics.
